The application process for a family unit is quite precise. It is written clearly in the rules that a family can only have two children, a male and a female to each family unit (Lowry 8).
First, you have to submit a form for a spouse. What happens is the Committee of Elders will review your application and if they, the Chief Elders, think you are capable and responsible to have a spouse they will observe the people in the Community and choose the woman they think is for you (Lowry 8).
The choosing process of the spouse can take up to months for the Committee of Elders to decide whom shall become your spouse (Lowry 8).
The application for a child is quite similar, but in different ways. When you send in your application you can request a male or female baby. When your application is approved you will receive your child at the Ceremony of Ones that are held every year in December (Lowery 11). The baby will already have a name and personal ID number. You may only have two children, a female and a male (Lowry 8).
