As Gabriel and I sled down the hill my heart began to race faster and faster as I saw a family gathered in a house. I knew that this family would ether save our lives or end them for we would soon get hypothermia. As we got closer I thought about how I would approach these people. I decided I would assuage or integrate my emotions before I confront them. Making sure that they know I mean no harm.
When I entered the house with Gabriel we soon found that they were a very solace family that accepted us. Suddenly, the memory that The Giver had given to me months back was augment and clear. I am once again feeling the love from the family that I had felt in the memories. The warmth of the fire had pervaded through me for I felt more at home than I have ever felt in the community. I think I have found a new family that will care for and love Gabriel and I. ~William I was gliding down the hill with the baby Gabriel in my hands. Snow was flying in our cold bitter faces as we gazed at the imperceptible blurry view that was ahead. The view was of many colors, such as red, yellow, and green. Gabriel and I were dehydrated and had not ate anything in days. Our face, toes, and hands were red and frostbite as the sled was pervading toward the different paths that lead to the warm blurry view. The sled went over a huge bump and we came to a stop. Gabriel was passed out by the time we made it down the hill. I carried the exhausted Gabriel to the warm log house and I knocked on the door with the energy I had left. No one ever came to the door and I felt dejected. What did elsewhere have in store for us? We were a few steps away when a women came out to greet us. She huddled us to the warm, cookie smelling, bright house where several others were there visiting with exuberant joy. She introduced us to her family and sat us down by the fire. Gabriel was still asleep and drool was coming out of his mouth. The family gathered around us giving us solacing comfort that seemed to never end. I saw two older people. I remembered the happy memory the Giver gave me of the warm area with the grandparents. This had to be it. This was Elsewhere. ~Sydney |
